Description

Universal Audio Volt 876: Eight Channels of Hardware 1176 Compression. Built Into Your Interface.

Universal Audio Volt 876 USB Recording Studio front panel showing eight channel controls and compressor buttons

What Would It Cost to Rack Eight 1176 Clones?

Think about that for a second. Eight hardware compressors modeled after the most recorded limiter in history, one on every channel, available before your DAW has even opened a plugin window. Then add eight preamps carrying selectable tube saturation inspired by UA's own 610 console. That signal chain is on the front panel of the Volt 876, built directly into the analog circuitry, printing to disk with every take you record.

This isn't a plugin. It isn't a DSP emulation. The Vintage mode and 76 Compressor are discrete analog hardware circuits that engage in the signal path before conversion. When you commit to them, what you're hearing is what gets recorded. That's how sessions ran in the rooms that made the records you reference. The Volt 876 puts that philosophy inside a 1U USB interface that anyone who's ever patched an 1176 into a chain will immediately understand.

Universal Audio Volt 876 front panel showing per-channel vintage and compressor controls with laptop

Three Compressor Modes. One Button Per Channel. No Routing Required.

The 76 Compressor runs at approximately 6:1 with a fixed threshold, with three preset modes tuned for how sources actually behave. Vocals get a slower attack to preserve the transient before clamping down. Guitar mode is voiced for pick attacks and string dynamics. Fast mode handles drums and percussive sources where the 1176's speed is the whole point. Each mode was designed by the same engineers behind UA's Apollo and the UAD 1176 plugin, and each one operates entirely in analog hardware on its dedicated channel.

Vintage mode sits independently on the same channel, adding harmonic density and a gentle high-frequency presence from UA's 610 tube emulation circuit. Both can run together or separately. The preamps themselves are fully digitally controlled with 60 dB of gain range in 1 dB steps, per-channel 48V phantom power, polarity invert, and Hi-Z switching on channels 1 and 2. Assistive Auto-Gain in UAD Console sets optimal levels across all eight inputs in seconds, which matters a great deal when you're miking a drum kit and time is the session.

Eight ADAT-Ready Preamps That Expand Any Setup You Already Own.

Connect the Volt 876 to an Apollo via ADAT and you have eight additional channels with individual Vintage and 76 Compressor control, all feeding directly into UAD Console where you can stack UAD DSP plugins on top of the hardware processing on those inputs. Connect three Volt 876 units together and you have 24 analog channels with compression on all of them, linked via ADAT, clocked via Word Clock I/O. Run it in standalone ADAT mode and it functions as a pure eight-channel analog preamp expander with no computer in the loop.

The rear panel carries two ADAT optical in/out ports (16 channels at 48 kHz), Word Clock I/O on BNC, full-size MIDI I/O, six TRS line outputs, a stereo monitor output with Alt speaker switching, and the USB-C connection to host. Two independent headphone amplifiers and a built-in talkback mic handle session communication. The Universal Audio Volt 876 USB Recording Studio ships with the UAD Producer Suite including hardware-modeled LA-2A, 1176, and Pultec EQ plugins, LUNA DAW with AI tools, Ableton Live Lite, and Melodyne Essential.

This process ensures the highest level of quality control for professional-grade recording equipment.

Shipping Policy

We currently offer free shipping within the United States only. If the checkout process on our website allows you to enter a shipping address and complete your order, your location is eligible to receive delivery.

Please note that address changes may result in delivery delays. Any additional costs incurred due to address changes, including carrier fees or rerouting charges will be the responsibility of the customer. No exceptions.

Shipping Times

All shipping times provided are estimates and should not be considered guarantees. Most orders ship out within 1–2 business days from the time payment is processed. However, total delivery time is typically 3–5 business days, depending on your location, carrier performance, and supplier fulfillment timelines.

We work closely with our vendors to ensure timely deliveries, but please note that supply chain disruptions, high-demand periods, or weather events may occasionally cause delays beyond our control.

  • To avoid misunderstandings: The “shipping time” refers to the total time from order placement to final delivery, not just when the item leaves the warehouse.

  • Cancellations: If you choose to cancel your order because it has not arrived within the estimated delivery window, you may be responsible for applicable shipping charges, restocking fees, warehouse handling costs, and other related fees.

  • Chargebacks: Customers who initiate chargebacks due to shipping delays without contacting us first may be held legally responsible for losses. We strongly encourage open communication so we can resolve any delivery concerns directly and efficiently via our Atlanta-based support team.
