With its warm low end, natural midrange presence, and detailed high-frequency response, the TF29 is a versatile workhorse for a wide range of studio applications—from lead vocals and acoustic guitar to drum overheads, horn sections, and upright piano. Originally inspired by the beloved CU-29, the TF29 maintains that same bold yet musical tone with an updated circuit and meticulous stereo matching. Each mic is hand-built in the USA and matched within ±1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, ensuring tight stereo imaging and consistent tonal response—making this pair a go-to for critical stereo recording sessions.

Every microphone in the TF29 matched pair is individually tested and tuned to guarantee consistent gain and frequency response across the stereo field. With sequential serial numbers and gain matching within ±1 dB, this pair ensures natural stereo depth and imaging when used in X/Y, ORTF, spaced pair, or overhead drum applications. Timeless Circuitry with a Balanced Voice

Inside each TF29 you’ll find a carefully selected NOS GE 5654W vacuum tube, a TK67S center-terminated capsule, and a Swedish Lundahl LL1935 output transformer. This combination produces a sound that’s rich in midrange detail, full in the low end, and smooth up top—without the hyped sparkle or excessive coloration found in lesser tube mics. Compared to its TF39 sibling, the TF29 delivers a slightly more focused tone thanks to its fixed cardioid polar pattern, making it ideal for isolated sources and natural vocal recording.
