Built Around the M82: Fat, Punchy Kick Tones

At the heart of the DD5 kit is the Telefunken M82, a large-diaphragm dynamic microphone specifically tuned for low-end sources. Whether you're tracking deep 808-style kicks or tight acoustic punch, the M82’s 1.37" moving-coil diaphragm captures massive transients and low-end weight with precision. Two onboard switches—Kick EQ and High Boost—offer instant tonal control, so you can sculpt the sound right at the mic. Need more beater click? Want tighter low mids? You can dial it all in with zero guesswork.

M80-SH and M81-SH: Dynamic Detail for Snare and Toms

The snare gets its own star: the M80-SH. Built with a wide frequency response and fast transient handling, this compact supercardioid mic captures crisp snare attack and body without bleeding into surrounding drums. It’s voiced with a condenser-like response while retaining all the benefits of a dynamic capsule—making it a favorite for both studio precision and live durability. Toms are handled by three M81-SH microphones. Sharing the same supercardioid pattern and compact form factor as the M80-SH, the M81-SH offers a smoother top end and fuller midrange, perfect for bringing out the warmth and punch of rack and floor toms.
