RME Fireface UCX II: The Last Interface Your Home Studio Will Ever Need

RME Fireface UCX II front panel showing display, preamp controls, and headphone output

Twenty Channels. Half a Rack. No Compromise on What Matters.

What if your interface could grow with every piece of outboard you'll ever add, handle a live session without a laptop in the room, and still sound clean enough to trust on a mix that actually matters? That's the question the Fireface UCX II answers.

Packed into a half-rack chassis is a full 20-in/20-out signal chain running up to 192 kHz, SteadyClock FS femtosecond clocking, two 75 dB preamps with 1 dB digital gain steps, TotalMix FX onboard DSP mixing, and DURec direct-to-USB multitrack recording across all 20 channels without a computer in the loop. This is serious studio infrastructure that fits on a desk corner. RME has been building interfaces this way for over 25 years, and their hardware keeps working long after other brands have discontinued support. Buying the UCX II isn't an upgrade. It's an endpoint.

Every Input and Output Your Studio Will Ever Require

Front panel: two XLR/TRS combo mic/line inputs (75 dB gain, 48V phantom, individually controlled), two line/Hi-Z instrument inputs (1 MOhm for direct guitar and bass), and a dedicated stereo headphone output.

Rear panel: four additional balanced line inputs, six balanced line outputs with individually selectable reference levels, ADAT for up to eight channels of optical expansion, AES/EBU and S/PDIF via breakout cable, Word Clock I/O on BNC, and MIDI in/out. All line-level outputs are fully DC-coupled, which means you can also send CV and Gate signals directly from the UCX II to Eurorack or other modular hardware without a separate converter. Every output, every routing configuration, every monitor mix is handled inside TotalMix FX with zero latency and no CPU load on your DAW.

Record, Mix, and Run Sessions Without Touching Your Computer

TotalMix FX is where the UCX II separates itself from anything else at this size. It's a full DSP mixer built into the hardware: per-channel EQ, compression, reverb, delay, and zero-latency monitoring routed however you want, completely independent from your DAW. Performer headphone mixes, studio monitor feeds, and stem routing all run simultaneously without adding buffer load to your session.

DURec records all 20 channels simultaneously to a USB drive connected to the rear panel, up to 2 TB capacity, with no computer required. Six preset states are stored in onboard memory, so the UCX II can power up in a completely configured mode and run a session solo. Class Compliant mode means it connects to iPad and iOS devices without drivers, opening up mobile recording as a genuine option. The front panel display, four buttons, and rotary encoder put every critical parameter under direct physical control when you don't want to be at a screen.

Highlights

  • 20 inputs / 20 outputs at up to 24-bit / 192 kHz via USB 2.0
  • SteadyClock FS femtosecond clocking: lowest jitter, highest jitter immunity in class

Shipping & Returns

  • We deliver all US orders in 3–5 business days
  • Free cancellations
  • Returns accepted within 30 days (unused items)

Order Confirmation

Once your order is placed, you will receive an order confirmation email. This confirms that we have received your order and have pre-authorized your credit card for the purchase. After confirming availability with our suppliers, we will proceed accordingly:

  • If your item is available and ready to ship within 1–2 business days, we will process the charge and arrange for shipment.

  • If your item is on backorder or unavailable, the pre-authorization will be voided and you will be notified by email.

  • Please note: While most items ship out within 1–2 business days, total delivery time is typically 3–5 business days, depending on your location and carrier handling.

Order Shipment

If your item is in stock and your payment has been processed, your order will typically ship within 1–2 business days. Total delivery time is approximately 3–5 business days from the date of order. Once shipped, you will receive tracking information at the email address provided during checkout within 24 hours of dispatch.

If you have not received tracking information within 3–5 business days of placing your order, please contact us at support@proaudioreserve.com.

The Distributor-Direct Advantage

To ensure you receive the most recent hardware revisions and 100% factory-sealed units, Pro Audio Reserve utilizes a Distributor-Direct fulfillment model. Unlike big-box retailers that may ship "floor models" or gear that has been sitting in general-purpose warehouses, your equipment is pulled directly from the primary manufacturer hub, serialized, and dispatched. This process ensures the highest level of quality control for professional-grade recording equipment.

Shipping Policy

We currently offer free shipping within the United States only. If the checkout process on our website allows you to enter a shipping address and complete your order, your location is eligible to receive delivery.

Changing Shipping Address

If you need to change your shipping address after your order has been processed or shipped, we will do our best to accommodate the request. Please note that address changes may result in delivery delays. Any additional costs incurred due to address changes, including carrier fees or rerouting charges will be the responsibility of the customer. No exceptions.

Shipping Times

All shipping times provided are estimates and should not be considered guarantees. Most orders ship out within 1–2 business days from the time payment is processed. However, total delivery time is typically 3–5 business days, depending on your location, carrier performance, and supplier fulfillment timelines.

We work closely with our vendors to ensure timely deliveries, but please note that supply chain disruptions, high-demand periods, or weather events may occasionally cause delays beyond our control.

  • To avoid misunderstandings: The “shipping time” refers to the total time from order placement to final delivery, not just when the item leaves the warehouse.

  • Cancellations: If you choose to cancel your order because it has not arrived within the estimated delivery window, you may be responsible for applicable shipping charges, restocking fees, warehouse handling costs, and other related fees.

  • Chargebacks: Customers who initiate chargebacks due to shipping delays without contacting us first may be held legally responsible for losses. We strongly encourage open communication so we can resolve any delivery concerns directly and efficiently via our Atlanta-based support team.

Delivery Options

  • Threshold Shipping: Your item will be delivered to your front door, porch, garage, or a covered entryway.
