The Heritage Audio Successor brings the character of legendary British diode-bridge compressors into the modern studio. Carnhill transformer-coupled inputs and outputs deliver the warmth, girth, and authority of vintage Class A circuitry — on your mix bus or drum bus.

True stereo operation runs on single controls with matched gain cells, delivering near-zero offset between channels and extremely tight left/right tracking. Oxford mode compression means the loudest signal governs gain reduction rather than a summed average, keeping your stereo image intact.

Ultra-Fast Timing and Advanced Sidechain Control

Unlike vintage diode-bridge designs, the Successor offers attack times as fast as 50μs and release times down to 25ms — enabling FET-like drum bus slamming or transparent mix bus glue depending on your needs. All timing and ratio controls are stepped for fast, repeatable recall.

The sidechain filter goes well beyond a simple high-pass, incorporating three high-pass filters, two mid-band bell EQs, and a smooth 50Hz roll-off to prevent sub frequencies from riding the compression. External sidechain send and return jacks allow for additional flexibility or processing from outboard gear.

Built-In Parallel Compression and Analog Metering

The onboard Blend control lets you dial in parallel compression without any additional routing or external gear. A dedicated Blend On/Off button allows for instant A/B comparison between fully processed and dry signals, making it easy to find the right balance in any mix.

A high-quality analog gain reduction meter gives you immediate visual feedback, while the all-discrete Class A signal path favors second-order harmonic distortion for a musical, vintage character that VCA-based designs simply cannot replicate.
