Allen & Heath ZED-16FX 16-Channel Analog Mixer with FX and USB

Allen & Heath ZED-16FX front panel showing 100mm ALPS faders and DuoPre preamp gain knobs

Built to Be Thrown in a Van and Trusted on Stage

Picture this: load-in is in 45 minutes, the venue is smaller than expected, and your drummer knocked over a monitor on the way in. You need one that lets you put your hands on the faders and work, not a mixer with a learning curve. That's exactly what the ZED-16FX is for.

Allen & Heath built this mixer to touring-grade standards with a steel chassis that handles the daily punishment of gigging life. The 100mm ALPS faders have a smooth, reassuring action, not the scratchy, vague feel of cheaper boards. Ten mono channels handle your mic inputs; three stereo channels take care of keys, backing tracks, or any stereo source you need to fold in. Everything is laid out logically, so even a deputizing engineer can navigate it mid-show without stopping to think.

ZED-16FX MusiQ 3-band EQ section with swept mid frequency controls on mono channels

DuoPre Preamps and MusiQ EQ That Actually Sound Like Something

The DuoPre preamp design uses two gain stages: most of the amplification happens in the first stage, which keeps the noise floor low and gives you clean, consistent headroom across the full 69dB gain range. That means a quiet ribbon mic or a low-output dynamic lands just as cleanly as a hot condenser. No reaching for the top of the gain knob and hoping for the best.

The 3-band MusiQ EQ is where the ZED's character comes through. The swept mid lets you move through the frequency range and find exactly where a vocal or guitar is sitting before you cut or boost. MusiQ automatically tightens the Q as you apply larger corrections, so broad tonal shaping stays musical and narrow surgical cuts don't smear into adjacent frequencies. It works the way a good engineer's ears do. Intuitively.

ZED-16FX built-in FX section with tap tempo, up/down buttons, and 9 LED display

16 Onboard Effects, Tap Tempo, Zero Extra Gear to Carry

The onboard FX engine covers reverbs, delays, and modulation. Sixteen types in total, crafted by Allen & Heath's own DSP team and not lifted from a generic library. For smaller rigs, this is one less rack unit, one less power strip tap, and one less thing to troubleshoot before doors open.

Control is three buttons and nine LEDs. Hold TAP and press up or down to adjust parameters directly: dial in plate decay, set chorus depth, or tap in a delay time that locks to the tempo of the set. For USB, the ZED-16FX sends stereo audio to Mac or Windows computers with no driver installation. Select your routing on the board and your audio device on the computer and it's done. Four send options let you choose between post-fade main mix, pre-fade, or aux buses so the capture matches the situation.

  • If your item is available and ready to ship within 1–2 business days, we will process the charge and arrange for shipment.

  • If your item is on backorder or unavailable, the pre-authorization will be voided and you will be notified by email.

  • Please note: While most items ship out within 1–2 business days, total delivery time is typically 3–5 business days, depending on your location and carrier handling.

Order Shipment

If your item is in stock and your payment has been processed, your order will typically ship within 1–2 business days. Total delivery time is approximately 3–5 business days from the date of order. Once shipped, you will receive tracking information at the email address provided during checkout within 24 hours of dispatch.

If you have not received tracking information within 3–5 business days of placing your order, please contact us at support@proaudioreserve.com.

The Distributor-Direct Advantage

To ensure you receive the most recent hardware revisions and 100% factory-sealed units, Pro Audio Reserve utilizes a Distributor-Direct fulfillment model. Unlike big-box retailers that may ship "floor models" or gear that has been sitting in general-purpose warehouses, your equipment is pulled directly from the primary manufacturer hub, serialized, and dispatched. This process ensures the highest level of quality control for professional-grade recording equipment.

Shipping Policy

We currently offer free shipping within the United States only. If the checkout process on our website allows you to enter a shipping address and complete your order, your location is eligible to receive delivery.

Changing Shipping Address

If you need to change your shipping address after your order has been processed or shipped, we will do our best to accommodate the request. Please note that address changes may result in delivery delays. Any additional costs incurred due to address changes, including carrier fees or rerouting charges will be the responsibility of the customer. No exceptions.

Shipping Times

All shipping times provided are estimates and should not be considered guarantees. Most orders ship out within 1–2 business days from the time payment is processed. However, total delivery time is typically 3–5 business days, depending on your location, carrier performance, and supplier fulfillment timelines.

We work closely with our vendors to ensure timely deliveries, but please note that supply chain disruptions, high-demand periods, or weather events may occasionally cause delays beyond our control.

  • To avoid misunderstandings: The “shipping time” refers to the total time from order placement to final delivery, not just when the item leaves the warehouse.

  • Cancellations: If you choose to cancel your order because it has not arrived within the estimated delivery window, you may be responsible for applicable shipping charges, restocking fees, warehouse handling costs, and other related fees.

  • Chargebacks: Customers who initiate chargebacks due to shipping delays without contacting us first may be held legally responsible for losses. We strongly encourage open communication so we can resolve any delivery concerns directly and efficiently via our Atlanta-based support team.

Delivery Options

  • Threshold Shipping: Your item will be delivered to your front door, porch, garage, or a covered entryway.
