Allen & Heath MixWizard WZ4 16:2 Overview

Allen & Heath MixWizard WZ4 16:2 front panel showing 100mm faders, 4-band EQ, and 6 aux send knobs per channel

The Mixer That Shows Up to Every Gig and Never Lets You Down

The MixWizard has been on more stages, in more church racks, and in more touring cases than most engineers care to count. Over 100,000 units sold across four generations. That number exists because the WZ4 16:2 does exactly what a working console needs to do: it handles 16 channels cleanly, it routes monitors without a fight, and it holds up under the kind of daily abuse that sends cheaper boards to the repair shop inside a year.

The preamps are the reason engineers keep coming back. Mike Griffin, one of the UK's leading analogue designers, developed the WZ4 preamp circuit as a direct adaptation of the design used in Allen & Heath's large-format studio consoles. The result is extremely low noise, minimal distortion, and smooth gain law with real headroom. Whether you are pushing a quiet acoustic guitar at the end of a long cable run or driving a hot signal from a keyboard, the preamp stays clean and predictable across the full range. Every channel also has an 80Hz high-pass filter at 12dB per octave and a -20dB pad, so you have the tools to clean up signals before they even hit the mix bus.

Six Aux Sends That Actually Cover Your Monitor Situation

Most touring bands and working houses of worship hit the same wall with undersized mixers: not enough aux sends to give the drummer, the vocals, and the in-ears all different mixes without making compromises. The WZ4 16:2 gives you six, and the routing architecture is thought through properly. Auxes 1 and 2 are pre-fade for stage monitors. Auxes 3 and 4 are switchable pre or post-fade, covering additional monitor mixes, effects sends, or zone feeds depending on the gig. Auxes 5 and 6 run post-fader for effects and aux-fed subwoofers. Every aux has its own master level rotary and impedance-balanced TRS output. The onboard monitoring system lets you listen to any aux in mono or as a stereo pair directly from the headphone output.

The dedicated mono output fader runs independently of the main L/R bus. Switch it to L+R mono for a centre fill or delay stack, or configure it as a separate sub feed for aux-fed bass. The talkback mic handles communication to stage monitors during soundcheck without pulling the main mix. Each channel also carries a TRS insert and a pre-fade direct output, so you can send individual channels to an outboard recorder or interface independently of the mix for multitrack capture without any additional routing workarounds. Optional USB expansion card adds 16-channel computer recording if the gig requires it.

4-Band EQ With Swept Mids That Works Fast Under Pressure

The 4-band EQ on every channel includes two sweepable mid frequencies, which matters more than most spec comparisons let on. Fixed-mid EQs force you to reach for whatever frequency point is closest to the problem and make do. Swept mids let you find the exact frequency where feedback is building, where a vocal is honking, or where a guitar is sitting too close to the keys, and address it precisely. On a busy stage with a full band and a short soundcheck window, that difference is the difference between a mix that works and one you spend the whole set chasing.

The dual FX engines are designed by the same in-house DSP team behind Allen & Heath's digital flagship consoles. Twenty presets cover reverbs, delays, and time-based effects, accessed and adjusted via a 7-segment LED display, tap tempo, and a parameter encoder. The QCC connector system lets you reposition the entire rear connector panel to suit desktop, rack, or flightcase orientations without tools. Remove the side trims and the integral rack ears are already there, no rack kit required. This is a console that was designed by people who have been on the road and in the venue.

The Distributor-Direct Advantage

To ensure you receive the most recent hardware revisions and 100% factory-sealed units, Pro Audio Reserve utilizes a Distributor-Direct fulfillment model. Unlike big-box retailers that may ship "floor models" or gear that has been sitting in general-purpose warehouses, your equipment is pulled directly from the primary manufacturer hub, serialized, and dispatched. This process ensures the highest level of quality control for professional-grade recording equipment.

Shipping Policy

We currently offer free shipping within the United States only. If the checkout process on our website allows you to enter a shipping address and complete your order, your location is eligible to receive delivery.

Changing Shipping Address

If you need to change your shipping address after your order has been processed or shipped, we will do our best to accommodate the request. Please note that address changes may result in delivery delays. Any additional costs incurred due to address changes, including carrier fees or rerouting charges will be the responsibility of the customer. No exceptions.

Shipping Times

All shipping times provided are estimates and should not be considered guarantees. Most orders ship out within 1–2 business days from the time payment is processed. However, total delivery time is typically 3–5 business days, depending on your location, carrier performance, and supplier fulfillment timelines.

We work closely with our vendors to ensure timely deliveries, but please note that supply chain disruptions, high-demand periods, or weather events may occasionally cause delays beyond our control.

  • To avoid misunderstandings: The “shipping time” refers to the total time from order placement to final delivery, not just when the item leaves the warehouse.

  • Cancellations: If you choose to cancel your order because it has not arrived within the estimated delivery window, you may be responsible for applicable shipping charges, restocking fees, warehouse handling costs, and other related fees.

  • Chargebacks: Customers who initiate chargebacks due to shipping delays without contacting us first may be held legally responsible for losses. We strongly encourage open communication so we can resolve any delivery concerns directly and efficiently via our Atlanta-based support team.
